X-Men ’97 Cast: Who’s Who In Season 1, Episode 10, From En Sabah Nur to Mother Askani?

En Sabah Nur X-Men 97 Season 1 finale

X-Men ’97 finished up Season 1 in style with “Tolerance Is Extinction, Part 3.” And not only does it wrap up the main plot of X-Men versus Bastion, and X-Men versus Magneto… But it tees up a wild cliffhanger for X-Men ’97 Season 2. And with that cliffhanger comes some new cast members including — spoilers past this point — En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse, and Mother Askani and the Askani Clan.

Before we get to that, though, a brief recap of the events of the episode, though a lot goes down. Up on Asteroid M, Xavier has entered Magneto’s mindscape in order to once again convince him to do the right thing. But first, he takes over Magneto’s mind and forces the mutant to restart the magnetism of the Earth — and Bastion’s Prime Sentinels as a semi-accidental result. Unfortunately, this also results in Xavier and Magneto getting trapped in the mindscape, something they manage to work out by the episode’s end without spawning a mind-baby named Onslaught. Whew!

Back on Earth, Bastion reactivates the Prime Sentinels, only to be stopped when Jean Grey briefly accesses her Phoenix powers. She blocks Bastion from his cyborg army, and rips the DNA out of Mister Sinister, replaying her favorite movie Old by making him turn old on the beach that makes you old. However, it’s a little too late as Bastion has ripped out Cable’s arm, made it a part of his body, and decides to blow up Asteroid M to kill everyone on Earth.

The X-Men gather on Asteroid M, and over the course of a pitched battle mostly beat Bastion, then appeal to him to join the team like they’re the Fast family or something. Unfortunately, it is once again too late as humanity has activated the Magneto Protocols. Which in this case are “blow up Asteroid M with missiles.” Good protocol.

This causes the asteroid to rocket towards Earth, and thanks to the efforts of the team and a reawakened Magneto, as well as Beast furiously typing on a computer, they manage to halt the asteroid… Only for it to disappear.

Six months later, Forge is trying to track the team down, only for Bishop to show up and explain they’re lost in time. We, the viewers, discover Cyclops and Jean Grey are in 3960 A.D. with the Askani Clan. And most of the rest of the team is back in Egypt in 3000 B.C. with En Sabah Nur. And in a surprise end credits scene, we get to see Apocalypse himself and tease the return of… Gambit.

That’s the recap; let’s jump into the voice cast. We’ve already covered the majority of the cast changes in our breakdown of the X-Men ’97 Episode 1 and 2 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 3 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 4 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 5 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 6 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 7 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 8 voice cast, and X-Men ’97 Episode 9 voice cast. But let’s get into the rundown of what’s new.

X-Men ’97 Season 1, Episode 10 “Tolerance Is Extinction, Part 3” Cast: Who’s Who In The Cast?

Mother Askani in X-Men 97

Let’s start with the big ones. Ross Marquand, who already does the voice of Professor X, is slowly gathering the Infinity Stones of Marvel voice acting. Not only does he play the good professor, and did the voice of Red Skull in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and played the voice of Ultron in both Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and What If…? But now he’s Apocalypse, as well. Apocalypse was previously voiced on X-Men: The Animated Series by John Colicos, who passed away in 2000, and then by James Blendick, who is currently 83 years old.

Marquand is not voicing En Sabah Nur, the younger Apocalypse from the Ancient Egypt era. Instead, that honor belongs to Adetokumboh M’Cormack. Folks probably know the actor best as Mr. Eko’s brother Yemi from Lost, or as Tuko on several episodes of Heroes. More recently he voiced Kofi on Blood of Zeus and Isaac on Castlevania.

By far the biggest casting, though, is Mother Askani, who is voiced by mother herself, Gates McFadden. You know her best as Dr. Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation and various spinoffs and movies, and recently she played the voice of Queen Marlena on Masters of the Universe: Revelation. We’ll clearly be hearing a lot more from her in Season 2.

Otherwise, the biggest voice surprise here is Isaac Robinson-Smith, who regularly plays Bishop, playing the voice of King T’Chaka, aka the Black Panther. And Josh Keaton returns as the voice of Captain America, from previous Marvel animated series, as well as “Bright Eyes,” Episode 7 of X-Men ’97.
