Marvel October 2024 Solicit Highlights::

Ah, October. When a young man’s thoughts turn spoooooky. And sure enough, there’s a few spooky items coming from Marvel this month. But first, the headliners.

Storm #1 hits, with the weather witch taking on her own solo title, as well as joining the Avengers. Marc Spector is back in a new title, Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu, from the same creative team, Jed MacKay and Alessandro Cappuccio. And making it a solo book hat trick, Iron Man #1 introduces a new creative team led by national security specialist Spencer Ackerman.

If you’re looking for interconnected events? Don’t worry, Marvel’s two Venoms are gooping their way into the Venom War with a slew of titles. In addition to a dedicated miniseries and the Venom title itself, there are eight different Venom War miniseries and one-shots, including a Fantastic Four tie-in where the synopsis starts, “The Fantastic Four may not have much history with Venom.” Cool, sounds good.

Spinning out of Blood Hunt, Blade gets his own adults-only Red Band book, a five-issue miniseries from writer Bryan Hill. Mystique also gets a five-issue miniseries, written and drawn by Declan Shalvey. And yet another five-issue, Sentinels, which brings together survivors of previous Marvel events to hunt down mutants, from Alex Paknadel.

You want spooky stuff already? How about Crypt of Shadows, a one-shot with stories by Benjamin Percy, Steve Foxe, Chris London, and Jason Loo. Meanwhile, Werewolf By Night: Red Band continues, as does Marvel Zombies: Dawn of Decay. Alien: Romulus gets a prequel comic, leading into the movie out in August, but afterwards. And Fantastic Four #26 is a Halloween special with both Johnny and Reed telling scary stories. Pretty spooky.

Other highlights include the end of Zeb Wells’s run on Amazing Spider-Man, which comes to a close with issue #60. That issue will also preview Joe Kelly and Justina Ireland’s “Eight Deaths of Spider-Man” story. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Spider-Boy #12 is completely classified, and so secret Marvel didn’t even send over any covers for the issue. What does writer Dan Slott have up his sleeves? We’ll find out in October.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And a programming note for all of you: this podcast will be taking a week off, but we’ll be back in the first full week of August. See you then! But not see you, actually. I can’t see you right now. And you can’t see me… Right?
