X-Men ’97 Cast: Who’s Who In Season 1, Episode 6, From Deathbird To Professor X?

deathbird x-men 97

After last week’s heartbreaking episode of X-Men ’97, this week turns its attention to some other characters. Spoilers past this point, but not only do we catch up with Professor X in space, but Storm and Forge as well. And with the former, at least, we’re following a whole new cast. So who is in the X-Men ’97 Episode 6 voice cast? Read on.

First, a brief bit of recap about the episode. Following up on “Motendo / Lifedeath – Part 1,” Storm is dealing with a demonic owl called The Adversary which — surprise — is an actual demon. After Forge is bitten and infected, she’s forced to crawl into a small cave to get the medicine he needs to heal, only to rediscover her power over the weather, and get a new haircut and costume change. Come bite me, owl! I need new clothes!

Meanwhile, in space, Professor X is romancing Empress Lilandra of the Shi’ar Empire, who helped heal him after the events of X-Men: The Animated Series. They want to get married; Lilandra’s sister Deathbird uses that as an excuse to try and take over the Empire. And like Storm getting her powers back, Professor X literally takes everyone to school to try to teach the Shi’ar why empires are bad. Unfortunately in the process, he also discovers what happened last week in Genosha, and decides to head back to Earth.

Oh, and then we find out that Mr. Sinister, manipulating Bolivar Trask, was the guy behind the attack on Genosha! Mystery solved!

That’s the recap; let’s jump into the voice cast. We’ve already covered the majority of the cast changes in our breakdown of the X-Men ’97 Episode 1 and 2 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 3 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 4 voice cast, and X-Men ’97 Episode 5 voice cast. But with a new space cast, there’s plenty to talk about.

X-Men ’97 Season 1, Episode 6 “Lifedeath – Part 2” Cast: Who’s Who In The Cast?

Professor X in X-Men 97

Though he made a cameo towards the beginning of the season, The Walking Dead star Ross Marquand is in full effect this episode as the voice of Professor X. He’s a veteran voice actor who you might recognize as Rudy from Invincible or more to the point, the voice of Red Skull in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. He also took over the voice of Ultron for What If…?

The big new addition is Morla Gorrondona, who joins the cast as Empress Lilandra. Gorrondona is a prolific video game voice-over artist who fans of Spider-Man 2 might recognize as Scream. She’s also Eris Morn in Destiny 2, done voices for God of War: Ragnarök, and a ton more. She takes over the role from Camilla Scott, who did the voice in X-Men: TAS.

I’d say Cari Kabinoff takes over the role of Deathbird for this episode, but we don’t actually know who voiced the character in X-Men: TAS – it was an uncredited role. However, Kabinoff has been in a number of things including a role on A Tale Dark & Grimm, and a voice role in Stranger Things VR, something I was unaware existed until this very moment.

Gavin Hammon, who voices Bolivar Trask, also does the voice of Lord Araki. David Errigo Jr, who is quickly becoming the show’s utility player, voices Space Superman, aka Gladiator, as well as the Royal Messenger.

Todd Haberkorn probably does the voice of Ronan this episode? The reason I say “probably” is that Haberkorn was miscredited last episode for doing the voice of Sebastian Shaw; in fact, Travis Willingham was the voice there, so maybe he did Ronan as well. Maybe Travis Willingham does the voice of Todd Haberkorn in real life!

Chris Britton is back as Mr. Sinister, pulling double duty as “Herald.” Jeff Bennet, aka frickin’ Johnny Bravo himself, is the voice of Kree Commander. He previously voiced “Burly Goon” and “American Judge” in previous episodes.

As in previous episodes, Forge is voiced by Gil Birmingham, Alison Sealy-Smith is the voice of both Storm and The Adversary, and Donna Jay Fulks voices news reporter/Cyclops bully Trish Tilby.
