X-Men ’97 Cast: Who’s Who In Season 1, Episode 7, From Captain America To Bastion?

Josh Keaton as Captain America X-Men 97 Episode 7

This week’s episode of X-Men ’97 was a biggie, as we brought on a whole slew of cameos and revealed this season’s overarching villain. Spoilers past this point, but not only did the show introduce Captain America, name-drop The Hulk, and bring on General Ross… But we also learned the baddie behind everything is none other than Bastion. But who plays all of those characters in the X-Men ’97 episode 7 voice cast? Read on.

First though, a quick recap of events to help set things up. After the funeral of Gambit, Rogue is going wild trying to track down the men potentially responsible for his demise: Henry Gyrich, and Bolivar Trask. She briefly bumps into Captain America — and General Ross — to get key pieces of info. In the process, she discovers something horrible while trying to absorb Gyrich’s memories… Because that isn’t really Gyrich.

After confronting Trask on a rooftop in Madripoor, he reveals that Mr. Sinister is working with some horrible people called OZT (spoiler: that’s short for Operation Zero Tolerance), and they’ve built Sentinels light-years beyond anything the X-Men have seen before. Rogue, furious, drops Trask from the roof, seemingly killing him. Instead, he turns into a Prime Sentinel and is unstoppable until Cable shows up and shuts him down.

That’s when we get our big reveal. Though they don’t say his name, Sinister was hired by Bastion, a mysterious baddie who it turns out didn’t kill Magneto… He’s holding him hostage with a power suppression collar.

Meanwhile, Roberto comes out as a mutant to his parents, Emma Frost reveals her diamond form, and Strong Guy shows up. Lots going on this episode, as usual!

That’s the recap; let’s jump into the voice cast. We’ve already covered the majority of the cast changes in our breakdown of the X-Men ’97 Episode 1 and 2 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 3 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 4 voice cast, X-Men ’97 Episode 5 voice cast, and X-Men ’97 Episode 5 voice cast. But you’re probably wondering about those Marvel Universe cameos — and the new bad guy — so let’s get into it.

X-Men ’97 Season 1, Episode 7 “Bright Eyes” Cast: Who’s Who In The Cast?

Theo James as Bastion in X-Men 97 Episode 7

He’s a one-eyed, one-horned giant purple people eater. But he’s also Theo James as the voice of Bastion, the bad guy behind Operation Zero Tolerance. James has taken on a ton of roles but is probably best known for his lead role on Netflix’s The Gentlemen, appearing in PBS’s Sanditon, and playing co-lead in the Divergent film series.

Moving to Captain America, the voice is none other than Josh Keaton, aka the guy who does the voice of Steve Rogers on What If…? and other Marvel shows. Does this mean this is the MCU’s Captain America? Probably not, but they do like Keaton in the role.

That brings us to our third guest star, Michael Patrick McGill as the voice of General Ross, aka the Hulk’s main adversary. Ross is played on screen by the late William Hurt, and upcoming by Harrison Ford. McGill, similar to Keaton, was the voice of Ross on What If…? Live-action folks probably know him best as Tommy on Shameless.

Adrian Hough, who voices Nightcrawler, also does the voice of Strong Guy in this episode. And Ron Rubin, the original voice of Morph, once again does the voice of President Kelly this week.
