Dynamite has already turned their partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products into a big success with ThunderCats, Powerpuff Girls, Space Ghost, and the upcoming Jonny Quest. And now a slew of new titles are getting ready to join them: Ben 10, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, The Herculoids, Dynomutt & Blue Falcon, and the first-ever comic for Thundarr the Barbarian.
While most of the books don’t have creators attached yet, The Herculoids does. Tom Sniegoski is branching out his work on Vampirella with the publisher to tackle the sci-fi/fantasy mash-up.
“I know this is gonna sound stupid, but ever since I was a little Sniegoski-ling, I’ve been in love with these characters forever,” said Sniegoski via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “I can’t tell you how excited I am for this project and can’t wait to show the fans what I’ve got planned.”
If you’re not familiar, in Herculoids a “space barbarian” family has a bunch of giant pets, called Herculoids. Per the release, those include: “Zok, a giant dragon able to shoot lasers; the rhinoceros Tundro; an ape formed of rocks named Igoo; and last but not least the shape-shifting Gloop and Gleep.” They all fight evil scientists, robots, and more in the classic Hanna-Barbera show, which was designed by Alex Toth.
As mentioned above, this is the first-ever comic for Thundarr the Barbarian; as well as bit of a full-circle moment for Ben 10, which was created by comic book creators Man of Action.
