The Invincible Season 2 premiere is finally here! And with it, we got to meet the show’s next great villain: Sterling K. Brown as Angstrom Levy.

A vitally important character to the comic book source material by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Angstrom was introduced in the Season 2 premiere, “A Lesson For Your Next Life.” And with his introduction, you might have some questions. Questions like “who is Angstrom Levy” and “who is Sterling K. Brown” and “who am I?”

We can probably answer the first two; the next one you may need to delve into yourself. With that in mind, let’s get into what you need to know about Angstrom Levy in Invincible and Sterling K. Brown, the actor who voices Angstrom on the Prime Video adult animated series.

Who Is Angstrom Levy On Invincible? What To Know About Season 2’s Villain:

Spoilers for the Season 2 premiere of Invincible past this point. Angstrom Levy is introduced right at the top of the episode. He’s a survivor of an Earth laid to waste by Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) and Invincible (Steven Yeun). He’s also a member of the resistance against them, along with Robot (Zachary Quinto) and Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs). Angstrom has managed to obtain something called Null Energy, which the resistance thinks might be able to stop Omni-Man from fully conquering the world.

It doesn’t. And in the process, Omni-Man kills Robot, and Invincible snaps Atom Eve’s neck, paralyzing her. Angstrom stands up to the two of them, and they’re about to kill him… When he falls through a green portal.

Surprise! This Angstrom is not the version of the character we’re going to be following… He’s a version of Angstrom Levy from an alternate universe, though a very important one. The Angstrom from “our” universe is the only version of the character (that we know of) with the power to create portals between different alternate universes throughout the multiverse. Let’s call him Angstrom Prime for clarity.

Throughout the episode, Angstrom reveals his plan to the Mauler Twins (Kevin Michael Richardson). He’s recruited hundreds of versions of himself from hundreds of different dimensions and wants to jam all of their knowledge into his brain to, according to him, save the world.

How Do Angstrom Levy’s Powers Work?

Great question. As Levy explains to the Maulers — or rather, they explain to him — he can’t use portals to travel in-universe; he can only travel between universes. Simply put, he can’t travel through distances or time, but he can pop from one alternate universe to another, and then back again. That’s why when he frees the Maulers from prison, he needs to take them to a universe where there’s a big crater in the ground. He couldn’t transport them up, or around; but held static in space.

Angstrom can open multiple portals, to multiple dimensions, though. And Time Cop rules don’t apply: he can interact with his doubles.

What Happens To Angstrom Levy At The End Of Invincible‘s Season 2 Premiere?

Naturally, Levy’s plan goes wrong when Invincible (our version) tries to stop him. Multiple Maulers from multiple dimensions beat the heck out of Invincible, and horrified, Angstrom Prime pulls the helmet off from the machine jamming other Angstroms’ brains into his brain, and the machine explodes.

In the aftermath, all the Maulers and Angstroms are turned to ash and bone, and Invincible leaves the scene, mildly disturbed, with the Guardians of the Globe. However, one of “our” Maulers survived, though half his body was charred. Also alive? Angstrom Prime, who has been horrifically disfigured so that it looks like his brains are pouring down under his skin like the world’s grossest head of hair.

The key thing to take away here though is that whatever knowledge Angstrom Prime did get from the experiment, his main personality seems to be from the version of himself we met in the first scene. He now hates Invincible and wants to destroy him. And that’s what he leaves to do, teeing up the major conflict of the season. Probably. Stay tuned.
