On today’s episode, we’re taking a look at some of the highlights from the Marvel May 2024 solicits.

This is Comic Book Club News for February 23, 2024.

Marvel May 2024 Solicit Highlights::

Things kick off in May for Marvel with 13 issues of Blood Hunt, their vampire-themed event. Seriously. That includes two issues of the main series, spinoffs, and tie-ins. It doesn’t include the Red Band versions of the main series, which offer extra bloody and violent pages into the mix. Beyond spinoffs like Dracula, Union Jack The Ripper, and more, the most intriguing tie-in is the new team of Avengers introduced in the main title by Jed MacKay: Captain America, Quicksilver, Hawkeye, Hercules, and Hazmat. Lotta “H” names there, they should change their name to the Havengers.

Moving to Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man #50 brings on the official return of the Green Goblin, an event fans will be sure to be gobblin’ up. And in the Ultimate Universe, T’challa is presumed dead in Ultimate Black Panther, we discover the origin of Maystorm in Ultimate X-Men, and in Ultimate Spider-Man we learn the origin of the new Green Goblin, something fans will be sure to be gobblin’ up.

We’ve previously covered a few new number-one issues on this podcast, including Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII, which teams up the title characters from the upcoming movie. Doom brings together Jonathan Hickman and Sandford Greene for the final adventure of Doctor Doom. Hellverine turns Wolverine into a Ghost Rider. And Get Fury pits a Vietnam-era Frank Castle against the OG Nick Fury, from Garth Ennis.

Okay, more Spider-Man, because in Spectacular Spider-Man #2, Peter Parker and Miles Morales go on a double date with Gwen Stacy and Kamala Khan, respectively. The version of Jessica Drew from Across the Spider-Verse comes to comics in Edge of Spider-Verse #4. And throwback series Spider-Man: Shadow of the Green Goblin has a story that I’m sure fans will be enjoying a lot. Sorry, I mean, gobblin’ up.

As reported yesterday, X-Men: The Wedding Special finally shows off the wedding of Mystique and Destiny. Meanwhile, pretty much every currently running X-Men book wraps up its run, including the miniseries Rise of the Powers of X and Fall of the House of X, in preparation for whatever happens in June, aka, the final month of the Krakoa era of X-Men.

Also wrapping up? G.O.D.S., the series by Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti that will seemingly take a pause after issue #8. The solicit doesn’t note the series is ending, but we don’t know exactly when the heavily hyped series will return.

Last but not least Star Wars: The Phantom Menace 25th Anniversary Special features multiple stories focusing on everyone from Anakin Skywalker to Jar Jar Binks, and fans will be sure to be gobblin’ up.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. Gobblin up.
