Hellverine miniseries coming from Marvel.

DC introduces Little Joker.

Dark Horse snags Dracula.

This is Comic Book Club News for February 16, 2024.

Hellverine Miniseries Coming From Marvel:

So hello to Hellverine! The mash-up of Ghost Rider and Wolverine is getting his own spinoff miniseries, after his introduction in the Ghost Rider/Wolverine: Weapons of Vengeance crossover.

Written by Benjamin Percy with art by Julius Ohta, the four issue miniseries will once again find Wolverine inhabited by the spirit of vengeance, with all the flaming claws and skulls that implies.

In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Percy said: “When the Hellverine appeared in the Ghost Rider/Wolverine crossover — Weapons of Vengeance — we lit a fire. A hellfire. Readers really responded to the killer concept of Logan with a flaming skull and flaming claws on a flaming motorcycle, which is as heavy metal as it gets. So, we’re giving them more sulfur-scented mayhem in this mini-series that will thrill and terrify.”

So there you go! Four issues of Wolverine on fire, fighting something called the all-new Hellfire Warriors. Comics!

The new series hits stores on May 29.

DC Comics Introduces Little Joker In Upcoming Comic:

We all can use a little Joker now and again. But Rafael Grampá is giving us a Little Joker in the third issue of the Black Label series Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham.

As reported by Popverse, while we don’t know much — or really anything — about this Little Joker, he appears to not be a de-aged version of The Joker, or the Joker’s son, or anything like that. He’s just a Joker, but smaller.

Grampá commented on the character, relating him to Crytoon, the main villain of the series: “Crytoon is a character that has very little to laugh about. In Little Joker, he finally finds a twisted balance of evil in its purest form, and in the laughter of this sinister child.”

So there you go! A Joker, but little. Comics!

The third issue hits stores on May 28, 2024.

Dark Horse To Publish Dracula By Matt Wagner And Kelley Jones:

Back in October, we reported on a quickly successful Kickstarter for a Dracula graphic novel by Matt Wagner and Kelley Jones. And now, that Kickstarter has been picked up by Dark Horse Comics.

Said Wagner via press release: “When Kelley Jones and I decided to launch the first volume of our new collaboration, DRACULA: BOOK I—THE IMPALER as a Kickstarter campaign, we always knew we also wanted to offer it via more traditional publishing channels. The overwhelming success of our campaign only solidified the need for that option, with both retailers and readers alike begging us for a mass-market edition in addition to the exclusive, hardcover Kickstarter versions.”

The first volume of a four-volume epic, book one will find Vlad heading to Satan in order to become lord of the dead. While there’s no specific publishing date for this one, it will be out in October in time for Halloween. And Wagner has assured Kickstarter backers that they’re going to get a much nicer-looking version of the book. At some point.
