Marvel Teases New Sentry Characters:
Marvel is teasing the new characters who will become The Sentry in the upcoming series by Jason Loo and Luigi Zagaria. In the new miniseries, Bob Reynolds, the man with the power of a thousand exploding suns, is dead. In his place, regular people are getting the power of The Sentry.
Said Loo via press release: “This entire series is a mystery where we follow Jessica Jones and Misty Knight as they figure out these catastrophic accidents caused by random strangers with the Sentry’s powers. You’re going to witness a bunch of origin stories, like Mallory Gibbs, a writer for Front Line news who lives with cerebral palsy. Farhad Anand is a mutant keeping a low profile as a DoorDish bicycle courier. And Ryan Topper, a teenage fanboy who gets to live his dream of becoming a super hero. And there are a few more further into the story. But the real question is….how are they all connected to Robert Reynolds?”
Along with the character descriptions, Marvel provided looks at the characters in their own new Sentry costumes. They look very nice. I’m just saying that because this is an audio podcast, and you can’t see them.
The new series hits comic book stores on December 6.
Dark Horse Releasing Print Version Of Sparks:
Dark Horse is seeing Sparks. The hit webcomic by Revel Guts will get a print collection next year from the publisher, titled, Sparks Volume 1: Portals!
Said Guts via release: “Sparks has been my passion project for the past 3 years. And I’m so excited to be teaming up with Dark Horse to see it in print! I hope everyone who loves epic fantasy plot lines and juicy queer romance will have as much fun reading it as I have creating it.”
The LGBTQ+ coming-of-age fantasy tale takes place in a magical post-apocalypse where humans are in a tenuous alliance with Satyrs. The first volume introduces Philo and Atlas, two magic students at odds who are forced through circumstances to work together. Will it lead to something more? Perhaps romance? You’ve read books before, right, so yes, of course.
The volume will arrive in bookstores on July 16, 2024, and a day later in comic book shops because they suck. Just kidding.
Matt Wagner And Kelley Jones Are Kickstarting Dracula:
Matt Wagner and Kelley Jones are working on a Kickstarter about Dracula. You can read the full report at the link prior.
For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And in a funny coincidence, I have the power of a thousand imploding suns.
