Marvel February Solicits Highlights:

As the world begins to shut down this week for Thanksgiving here in North America, a young boy’s thoughts turn from turkey to February, as the saying goes. With that in mind, we’re taking a look through Marvel’s recently released February solicits. So let’s highlight some of the more interesting titles from the publisher.

First up, the rebooted Ultimate Universe is picking up steam. As previously reported by Comic Book Club News, February will introduce the mysterious new Power-Rangers-esque Goblin in Ultimate Spider-Man #2. The month will also see the debut of the second book in the line, Ultimate Black Panther, by Bryan Hill and Stefano Caselli. The pitch? Black Panther versus Moon Knight.

Over in the non-Ultimate Universe, The Amazing Spider-Man and his amazing other titles are bringing the conclusion of the Gang War storyline. That crossover hasn’t yet officially started in real-world time, it will kick off next week. Gang War will pit the superpowered gangsters of Marvel against the superheroes of New York… And will spin out over multiple miniseries and ongoing series. The event ends in Amazing Spider-Man #44. Marvel is teasing “This is not going to go the way you think it will!” I think it will end in Amazing Spider-Man #44. Prove me wrong, Marvel! Prove me wrong.

Heading into space, the Grootfall storyline that’s been running in Guardians of the Galaxy is also wrapping up — just not in the main title. Instead, the 2024 Guardians of the Galaxy Annual #1 will finish up the story of Groot’s benevolent rampage across the universe. And speaking of aliens and confusing numbering, there’s a new Predator #1 from writer Ed Brisson, who wrote the previous two Predator #1 issues. The previous titles were both good, but does Marvel know you can add additional words to titles to make things less confusing? Unclear!

Some other highlights? Night Thrasher #1, which brings back the classic ’90s hero. Spider-Punk #1, which brings back the ’70s-style hero who actually first appeared in 2015. And a four-issue miniseries title Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver from the team behind the lauded Scarlet Witch team, er, which brings the superpowered siblings back together.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben #1. Not the previous Alex Zalben #1. The new one.
