Loki Season 2’s Breakout Character Is Jack, The McDonald’s Manager

Jack Cunningham Nuttall in Loki Season 2

Are you lovin’ it? Loki Season 2, I mean? If so, that’s in no small part to the character find of 2023, Jack Cunningham-Nuttall’s Jack, the McDonald’s Manager.

That’s right: the boy-man brave enough to interact with Sylvie on a normal human basis is running away with a season of television featuring Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Ke Huy Quan. Is he our new Baby Yoda? The new Madisynn? Or perhaps I saw a little search interest in Google Trends and decided to write this post like an absolute idiot?

Whichever of those is true — we may never know — here’s what you, the reader, need to know about Jack The McDonald’s Manager on Loki Season 2… And Jack Cunningham-Nuttall, the man who portrays this powerhouse character.

Who Is Jack, The McDonald’s Manager, On Loki Season 2?

At the very end of Loki Season 2’s first episode, “Ouroboros,” we’re treated to a classic Marvel end-credits scene. In it, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) bloops out of a Time Variance Authority (TVA) door in Broxton, Ohio in 1982… On a branched timeline. She’s just killed He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) in the Season 1 finale and is now doing what all winners do: going to Disneyland.

Just kidding, she goes to McDonald’s, which is around the same sort of thing. There, she walks to the counter and asks the guy behind the counter how this all works. Then she orders something with meat, as long as it doesn’t have a face. Great news: that’s the whole concept behind McDonald’s! In the background, the guy behind the counter — Jack — rattles on about their new Chicken McNuggets while Sylvie scans the happy crowd. She is, in fact, lovin’ it.

In Episode 2, “Breaking Brad,” Sylvie is now working behind the counter at McDonald’s and doing a fabulous job. Loki (Hiddleston), of course, breaks up her idyllic new life and sucks her back into the TVA nonsense. At the end of the episode, Sylvie’s branched Broxton is one of the few timelines that survives a deadly attack by a rogue TVA agent. She’s seen in the final scene lying on the hood of her car outside McDonald’s at night.

Jack approaches her and asks if she’ll be in tomorrow, to which she says yes. She asks him if he needs a ride home, but his mom is picking him up. They say goodnight, and Sylvie is left lying on her car, fiddling with the all-powerful time doohickey she took off of He Who Remains.

So that’s Jack! He manages McDonald’s and is clearly a teen who still lives with his parents. Huge, if true.

Who Is Jack, The McDonald’s Manager, From The Marvel Comics Source Material?

In the epic 1993 crossover Secret Burgers, Jack, The McDonald’s Manager was instrumental in saving The Avengers after… Okay, fine, he doesn’t exist in Marvel Comics. He’s just a McDonald’s manager.

However, in the interest of actually providing some information in this stupid article, in 1998 Australian McDonald’s actually released a series of Marvel comics alongside their Happy Meals. Those were: Fantastic Four: Franklin’s Adventures, Incredible Hulk: Project H.I.D.E., Spider-Man Mysteries, and X-Men: Mutant Search R.U.1? Jack, sadly, did not appear in any of them to my knowledge.

Jack Cunningham-Nuttall is not a teen. He’s actually 21 years old and was born in 2002. Or maybe he’s 20. I don’t know when his birthday is, leave me alone.

According to his IMDb bio, he has dual American/British citizenship and lives in London. It also specifies his mother is in the film industry, and his father works for Formula One. His first job was a German insurance commercial at age 4, which sounds like the setup for a joke, and yet it is not.

Up until Loki, Cunningham-Nuttall was probably best known for playing Young Hamlet in 2018’s Ophelia, which also starred Daisy Ridley, Naomi Watts, and Clive Owen. He was also the crucial role of “Steam Bath Boy” in The King’s Man. That said, he may be making some big moves, as a Reddit post speculates that he may have been cast in HBO’s House of the Dragon Season 2 as Daeron Targaryen. Blonde kid with a bit of an edge to him? Checks out.

You can find out more about Jack Cunningham-Nuttall on Instagram, where he currently has only 2k+ followers. Most of them are commenting “Whoa, it’s the McDonald’s employee from Loki,” or “Daeron I love you.” So chances are, his Insta will be blowing up before long.
