Just yesterday, we wondered what could be so big, so seismic, that Marvel would hide any info about the October debuting Spider-Boy #12. Well, now we know: the issue will introduce the all-new Spider-Girl.
As announced at the Diamond Retailer Lunch at San Diego Comic-Con, writer Dan Slott and designer/artist Michael Cho worked together to create a brand-new spider-hero who they tease has a “mysterious backstory will supersede even Spider-Boy’s shocking origin,” per a press release provided to Comic Book Club.
Here’s the previously classified synopsis for the issue:
THE ALL-NEW … SPIDER-GIRL?! After the recent status quo shake-up, Spider-Boy’s life really will NEVER be the same again! In light of what happened, maybe it’s time for Bailey Briggs to be someone else’s sidekick. Get ready Daredevil, because here comes The “Boy Without Fear”! Also in this issue: find out what Bullseye has to do with it all.
Spider-Boy #12 will be drawn by Paco Medina, and will also — as teased above — feature a team-up between Daredevil and Spider-Boy. While the new Spider-Girl, who seems to have some sort of throwing blades, will be introduced in the issue, it seems like we’ll have to wait a while to find out what her deal is, as the release also teases that, “Just as the emergence of Spider-Boy turned the Spider-Verse inside out and fueled fan speculation for months, SPIDER-GIRL has a story to share that will keep readers guessing and make Spider-Man, Spider-Boy, and all the rest question EVERYTHING!”
