With its kismet or corporate synergy, Marvel Comics has announced two, related items of news: they’re going to kill off Deadpool; and Wade Wilson will be replaced with a new lady Deadpool, his own daughter.
Per a press release provided to Comic Book Club, and as announced during the Diamond Retailer Lunch at San Diego Comic-Con, Deadpool, aka Wade Wilson, will be killed off by a new villain named Death Grip in October’s Deadpool #6. Following the murder of Wade, his daughter Ellie Camacho will step up as the all-new Deadpool, starting with November’s Deadpool #7.
And to be clear, she’s a lower-case “lady” Deadpool, not Lady Deadpool, who is Wanda Wilson — and the object of much internet scrutiny over her identity in the currently in theaters Deadpool & Wolverine.
The issue will be written by Cody Ziglar and co-writer Alexis Quasarano in her Marvel Comics debut, and will be drawn by guest artist Andrea Di Vito. Here’s the synopsis:
Wade has fallen, and his daughter Ellie has taken up the mantle! Taskmaster continues her mercenary training, but what she really wants is vengeance. And to get that, she’ll need Princess’ help.
You can check out Taurin Clarke’s main cover, and Mark Bagley’s variant cover, below. Bagley’s variant will also be available sans logo as a virgin variant cover.
