What Happened To Renslayer At The End Of Loki?

Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer in the Loki series finale

The series finale (probably) of Loki is here. And with it comes many questions about the characters’ final fates. Though some are more closed than others, as always with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) no story is truly done, even if a character dies. But one character who was a little underplayed in the finale? Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw). So, what happened to Renslayer at the end of Loki?

Spoilers past this point. In the finale, “Glorious Purpose,” as Loki jumps throughout the timeline, we get a quick glimpse of Ravonna and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong) during their attempted takeover of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) back in the episode “The Heart Of The TVA.” However, the important thing to know here is that at the end of the episode when Loki (Tom Hiddleston) finally steps up and saves all of reality, the course of events are as we’ve seen them throughout these six episodes of Season 2. Meaning: despite Loki messing with time, nothing has changed.

That means that towards the end of Season 2, Episode 4, when Brad Wolfe (Rafael Casal) was enchanted by Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) into pruning Ravonna, that is exactly what happened. And what happens when people get pruned? As we saw in Season 1, they get sent to the End of Time.

When we cut back to Ravonna in the series finale of Loki, that’s exactly where she is: the time-broken garbage dump that is the end of time. She’s confused and alarmed, and she should be. She sees something off-screen, is partially bathed in a purple light, and closes her eyes as something roars. That something is Alioth, the gigantic smoke creature we saw back in Loki Season 1, Episode 5 “Journey Into Mystery.

Alioth Loki

What happened to Renslayer at the end of Loki? While we don’t get to see it happen, the implication is that Alioth ate her. The creature’s job is to take all the refuse that gets sent to the End of Time by the TVA and dissolve it. As mentioned earlier, in the MCU bodies or it didn’t happen — so there’s every chance one of the Variant Lokis at the End of Time saved her, or any number of TVA soldiers who were also sent there, among other creatures and people. But for now, until we hear otherwise: RIP, Ravonna.
