Scarlet Witch #10 Review:
Written by Steve Orlando with art by Sara Pichelli, Scarlet Witch is wrapping up with an epic battle between Wanda Maximoff and the Hexfinder. We’ve loved the series, but how about that final issue?
Host Alex Zalben kicked things off saying that the issue reminded him of the wizard’s duel between Merlin and Madam Mim in Disney’s The Sword in the Stone, but “a more hardcore version of that.”
While Justin Tyler didn’t have the same reference, he did think there was “a great use of magic in this… This felt like two people casting legit spells, both artistically presented.” Tyler also loved the reveals involving Magneto’s clone Joseph in this issue and was “genuinely sad to see that this is the last issue, even though I know more is coming… This feels like the best Scarlet Witch has been in years… A great way of taking that character and giving her a unique niche in the Marvel Universe to play in.”
Pete LePage agreed and was similarly impressed with how the book “stretched the characters in such cool ways. Art was so impressive. Love all the action adventure and magic fights that we got in this. Plus Darcy. I mean, come on…. This has been such a great package, the art and the storytelling meeting in such a creative place… Super sad to see it end and I want more.”
