Today, we’re highlighting some of the more interesting titles from Marvel’s January Solicits!

This is Comic Book Club News for October 20, 2023.

Marvel January Solicits Highlights:

It’s the week after New York Comic Con, and the comic book world has slowed to a crawl as pretty much everyone who attended the con has come down with COVID. Not me, though! Not yet!

That doesn’t mean everything in the world of comics has stopped. Marvel sent over their January solicits, aka covers and blurbs the publisher uses to entice comic book stores into buying their product.

With that in mind, here are some of the highlights as your faithful reporter browsed through the massive document.

As previously reported here, this is a big month for Marvel. They’ll be launching Ultimate Spider-Man #1 from Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto, set in the new, rebooted Ultimate Universe. You’ll also get Avengers Twilight, a dark tale of the end of The Avengers from Chip Zdarsky and Daniel Acuña. And the X-Men’s Krakoa era is ending with Fall of the House of X, Rise of the Powers of X, and a number of other spinoff titles. And while all that’s happening, Wolverine finds time to kick off a multi-part epic called The Sabretooth War.

However, don’t underestimate the power of Amazing Spider-Man, which spins out a Gang War storyline in multiple titles throughout the month. We meet a new Moon Knight in Vengeance of the Moon Knight, and titles continue for both Punisher and White Widow.

On the cute side, there’s Marvel Meow, as Marvel’s many cat friends team up and go on big adventures. Oh, and if you like variant covers, get ready for Wolverine, Wolverine, Wolverine, which puts that angry canuck in a variety of classic poses.
