One of the biggest, weirdest love stories in recent comics history is Typhoid Mary — the psychotic, mutant assassin — and Kingpin. The two fell in love and left town forever in the pages of Daredevil. Got separated during the recent Hellfire Gala that kicked off Fall of X. But on the cover of January 3’s The Amazing Spider-Man #41, Mary and Wilson (aka #Typhoidpin) are back together and battling in the upcoming Gang War crossover.
The storyline is exactly what it sounds like. As teased in this week’s The Amazing Spider-Man #35, the gangs of New York (no relation) are erupting into violent warfare, with the heroes of the Marvel U caught in the crossfire. At today’s dedicated panel at New York Comic Con, Marvel showed off a ton of new pages and covers… Including the new look at Marvel Comics’ version of Harry and Meghan.
The catch? Currently both characters are heavily embroiled in Fall of X. Kingpin is now the White King of the Hellfire Club, having bought it out from Sebastian Shaw. He’s mostly aiming to use his resources to find his wife, who walked through a portal gate at the Hellfire Gala and disappeared. Mary, meanwhile, is stuck off-world in Vanaheim in Realm of X. Presumably, she returns and they reunite by January’s new comics.
Check out the full line of covers, solicit text, and interior pages shown off in the panel, below for the January debuting titles. And of note, the crossover kicks off on November 29 with Amazing Spider-Man: Gang War – First Strike #1, so this is already a month or so into the storyline.
