It’s the first week of September. Can you fill that chill in the air? That’s right: it’s new comics this week for September 5 and 6.
Marvel doesn’t have any big launches this week but is continuing a few storylines. In Amazing Spider-Man, we’ll get to see what happens after Peter Parker is infused with Norman Osborn’s sins. Yuck! Meanwhile, Wolverine has been infused with Ghost Rider, over in Weapons of Vengeance Omega. Yuck! And as the Star Wars: Dark Droids saga continues, those droids are also infused with some other evil droid. Marvel, is there something you’re trying to tell us?
DC Comics, however, has a bunch of big number-one issues this week. Hot off the movie, Blue Beetle launches a new series from the team behind the critically acclaimed Graduation Day mini. And just like that series, this will be distributed in both English and Spanish. There’s also a new Birds of Prey, and Fire and Ice head to Smallville for a series the writer calls Schitt’s Creek with superheroes. Most importantly, Joker 1 takes place in an alternate continuity where Batman falls in a vat of chemicals while chasing The Joker, turns into a baby, and then The Joker needs to take care of him. Must read!
Other Highlights:
Other highlights from the list? Archie Comics is releasing the second volume of their Bite-Sized Archie series. BOOM! Studios Hunt for the Skinwalker hopes to jump on the success of The Department of Truth. Dark Horse wraps up Scott Snyder and Tula Lotay’s award-winning Barnstormers. And Kill Your Darlings hits from Image Comics, a dark fairy tale about a dark fairy tale about a girl who may or may not be going insane.
