Most of Legion “Chapter 12” focused on the relationship between Syd (Rachel Keller) and David (Dan Stevens) — including an important painting by artist Egon Schiele and guest star Lily Rabe as Syd’s mother. It also featured a bunch of great music, including a cover of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down The House.” Oh, and Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) is back.
In a jaw-dropping finale, after David and Syd finally repair their relationship, we’re back in the headquarters of Division 3 where Lenny is being held by a small battalion of troopers. This poses a million questions, but one of the biggest is, which Lenny is this?
The promo for the next episode, “Chapter 13,” looks like it might go back in time and show us how we got to this point. When Season 1 finished, Lenny and Oliver Bird (Jemaine Clement) were headed south to search for something, which turned out to be Amahl Farouk’s (Navid Negahban) body. At least as much as Legion can be presenting something linearly, it looks like we’ll see what Farouk in Oliver’s body told Lenny in that car from the Season 1 finale (“I’m going to kill you”). We’ll also potentially get to see how Lenny went from being trapped in Farouk’s astral plane pool party of terror, to the real world.
Which raises even more questions! Because as far as the show has shown, we’ve maybe never really met Lenny. Anything from before Clockworks, where Lenny and David were friends, was an illusion. We saw Lenny’s “body” fused into the wall at Clockworks after David lost control of his powers. And then after that point, Lenny was always secretly The Shadow King.
Then in Season 2, we’ve seen Lenny trapped, and trying to get a new body. So is she a creation of The Shadow King entirely? How does she have a body now? Is that Lenny in the body? Watch the promo, and see if you can figure it all out.
