With a general lack of actual news regarding the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), the so-called “scoopers” have been going wilder than the participants in MTV’s hit series Wild On… over the past few months. And now, the latest hot rumor is that none other than Taylor Swift met with Marvel impresario Kevin Feige to discuss a role in the MCU. If she did, though, I hope she met about playing the part of Doop.
According to this hot scoop, Taylor Swift had a “good meeting with Kevin Feige, and they are discussing a role in the MCU.” While fans have long speculated that Swift may be playing Dazzler in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, if Swift just had the meeting about the role then that seems to 100%, definitely, totally shut down the idea of her portraying the singer/mutant in the upcoming flick. So instead, let’s talk about who she could have been discussing with Feige.
Unfortunately, Blade has already been cast with Mahershala Ali, so that’s out. But otherwise, the biggest current swathe of casting that needs to be done is the MCU’s take on X-Men. So could Swift be discussing a role that would be perfect for her… Doop, a green blob who spews nonsense and has generally poorly defined powers?
The character was first introduced in X-Force #116, created by Peter Milligan and Mike Allred. Like Swift, Doop immediately became extremely popular, as he wrangled with the fame of being part of a superhero team. And similarly, Swift is also a green floating blob, so this would be perfect casting.
It’s possible Swift won’t want to play a character like Doop, of course. Other possibilities include Maggott, a mutant who has an external digestive system that looks like two metallic maggots that crawl out of his stomach, eat things, and then crawl back inside him. She could also play Wolverine, or Saylor Twift, a character I just made up.
Regardless, I think we can all agree that like Doopspeak, this is all a bunch of nonsense we should generally ignore. Swift might cameo as Dazzler in Deadpool & Wolverine. She may have had a meeting with Kevin Feige. Or none of these things happened, and people just need to feel seen on a daily basis. As Swift always says: “I’m the best there is at what I do, and what I do is make people wildly speculate about my every move.”
