We’ve broken down 11 of our top picks for must-buy comics for the month below, including a one-shot set in the world of Local Man, a new Spawn spinoff, and a whole lot of Energon Universe, as well. Check it all out below, and we apologize in advance to your wallet.

1. The Last Mermaid #1

The Last Mermaid #1 cover

Release Date: March 6, 2024

Derek Kirk Kim’s story of the titular last mermaid traversing a dry post-apocalypse in a mech-suit along with her faithful axolotl companion is a must-buy. Gorgeously constructed and heart-rendingly simple, this is going to be a stand-out month after month.

2. Void Rivals #7

Void Rivals #7 cover

Release Date: March 6, 2024

After a long break, the title that kicked off the Energon Universe is back for its second arc. Will there be even more surprises in store? I guess we’ll have to read to find out.

3. Transformers #6

Transformers #6 cover

Release Date: March 13, 2024

This is Daniel Warren Johnson’s final issue on art for Transformers, as well as the finale of the first arc. Don’t worry, Johnson is still writing the next six issues, and Jorge Corona is joining on art. But we’ll hold on to this final precious issue as tight as we can in the meantime.

4. Our Bones Dust #4

Our Bones Dust #4 cover

Release Date: March 13, 2024

Another stunning post-apocalypse series, Our Bones Dust wraps up with this fourth issue. What will happen in this story of a young girl and a robot trying to avoid cannibals?

5. Napalm Lullaby #1

Napalm Lullaby #1 cover

Release Date: March 13, 2024

Rick Remender and Bengal take on a title that of course includes plenty of hyper-violence. But at the same time, as people are being skewered with swords, they’re also skewering the idea of organized religion through a sci-fi theocracy. A must check-out based on the team alone.

6. Something Epic #8

Something Epic #8 cover

Release Date: March 20, 2024

Szymon Kudrański is a singular talent, with a knack for mixing beautiful pages with dense layers of text without it feeling crowded. This title follows people called Epics, who can craft the stories that hold the world together. And frankly, while it’s surprising this is coming back for a second arc, I’m extremely intrigued to see what Kudrański has cooked up.

7. Sam And Twitch: Case Files #1

Sam And Twitch Case Files #1 cover

Release Date: March 20, 2024

Sam and Twitch? In this economy? Todd McFarlane returns to his classic Spawn-adjacent detectives with a brand new title drawn by… Szymon Kudrański. See? It’s all coming together.

8. Feral #1

9. Sex Criminals: The Complete Edition

SEX CRIMINALS: THE COMPLETE EDITION TP cover

Normally I try to highlight single issues here, but a trade paperback edition of Chip Zdarsky and Matt Fractions Sex Criminals featuring all 31 issues is a must-have for any discerning collector.

10. Local Man: Bad Girls #1

Local Man: Bad Girls #1 cover

Release Date: March 27, 2024

Tim Seeley and Tony Fleecs kick off another one-shot set in the world of Local Man. Last time that was Local Man Gold, one of the wildest comics of 2023. This time, Seeley teased to Comic Book Club on our live show that they’re bringing in a ton of guest stars from throughout Image Comics. Can’t wait.

11. Monstress #50
