Can you feel your heart swelling? That’s because it’s the week before Valentine’s Day, and this week’s New Comics This Week list is full of books teeing up the holiday of romance. Also, some other stuff, so let’s get into it.
Marvel’s big one is the second book in the new Ultimate Universe line, Ultimate Black Panther #1, which pits the king of Wakanda against Moon Knight. Not to be outdone, Sam Jackson gets his own comic book in Star Wars: Mace Windu #1, which does not (sadly) pick up after he was thrown out a window. Wait… Windu? Window? There’s something there…
DC Comics does love you though, with the delightfully named anthology DC’s How To Lose A Guy Gardner In 10 Days #1. Meanwhile, Batman #142 kicks off the highly anticipated Joker: Year One storyline. And Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum serves as a prequel to the new video game. Once you’ve killed a building, I guess there’s nowhere to go than killing superheroes, right?
Dynamite’s blockbuster ThunderCats #1 finally hits stores, and we already know it’s a success – but how big will it get? Over at BOOM! Studios, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Return #1, brings the Pink Ranger herself to writing duties (the actor, not the fictional character). And Image Comics kicks off a bold noir experiment with The One Hand #1, while ending The Cull, one of the best books currently being published.
