Transformers #4 Review:

Picking up off the cliffhanger from the last issue, little human Spike has been shot, and Optimus Prime will stop at nothing to save his new friend. Meanwhile, the Decepticons will stop at nothing to destroy Optimus Prime.

“This is unbelievable,” said host Pete LePage. “An OMG comic… I lost my mind a couple of times reading this comic… Unbelievable fights. Unbelievable action. You get really heartwarming, touching [moments]. Hearing Optimus Prime talk about the human race gives me hope for the future.”

LePage continued to shout out big moments in the issue, like a fight between Optimus Prime and Soundwave that didn’t shy away from intense action. “An absolutely glorious comic book,” added LePage.

“Every issue, it’s so emotional,” added Alex Zalben. “The danger is so palpable for both the humans and the Transformers. I do feel like now that we’re getting more Energon Universe titles, I’m excited and interested to see where this is building to. Because it’s clearly building to something… But I don’t think that takes away from the experience of reading this comic.”

“The question for me is always, how did you get these books to go so hard so quickly?” said Justin Tyler. “And in this, how are the heroes just under the boot heel from the beginning? That’s so surprising to me and when you’re launching a line to have the heroes losing so hard, and in the end of this issue we finally get a little juice and a little turnaround maybe so very excited for that.”
