DC Comics February Solicits Highlights:

What’s more romantic than new comics? Nothing! So celebrate this upcoming February with some highlights from DC Comics’ upcoming solicits for the month.

One of the more intriguing releases? A three-part, weekly story running from Batman #142 through Batman #144 titled Joker: Year One, which will reimagine the origin of Batman’s most notorious enemy, as well as his future.

Continuing on the villainous bent is Sinister Sons. Written by Peter J. Tomasi, this book teaming up Sinestro’s son and General Zod’s son is pretty much the flip of the classic, excellent Super Sons title Tomasi used to write teaming Damian Wayne with Jon Kent.

The hat trick for villains, February also brings on Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum, a preview to the upcoming video game Kill The Justice League, written by John Layman. Don’t know how you kill a building, but I’ll assume it involves Captain Boomerang throwing boomerangs at it until he chips the concrete. Should be a fun book!

Okay, fine, one more villain book… Poison Ivy has been excellent for months now, with writer G. Willow Wilson and artist Marcio Takara at the helm. And now they’re going back in time with issue #19 to tell the definitive origin of the title character. Or as the solicit text teases, “the one true secret origin of Poison Ivy, as revealed by the viridescent villainess herself.”

On the Black Label front, Mike Perkins and Dan Jurgens launch The Bat-Man: First Knight, which takes the character back to his 1939 origins. Meanwhile, Christian Ward’s Batman: City of Madness wraps up with its third issue.

And finally, if you’re interested in variant covers, DC will be running Sweater Weather variants all month. Which are basically swimsuit-special type covers, but in the snow. If that’s the sort of thing you like.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And this February, look forward to my villain origin story.
