Star Wars: Dark Droids #4 from Marvel Comics, written by Charles Soule with art by Luke Ross brings on some surprising twists for our new bad guy.

Star Wars: Dark Droids #4 Review:
A machine intelligence from out of time has corrupted most of the droids in the Star Wars galaxy, but it wants more. It wants flesh. And now, it’s having a serious identity crisis after splitting parts of its personality into a council of droids.
Host Alex Zalben thought the changes to the main villain were not what he was “expecting,” but are “really interesting” nonetheless. “I don’t know how they’re going to wrap up this particular storyline, but I’m really fascinated to see where it goes,” Zalben added.
Justin Tyler called this event “the most successful of the larger moves in the Marvel Star Wars [comics]. And it is good. [There are] a lot of ideas on the table here.” However, probably just to needle co-host Pete LePage, he wondered whether R2-D2 needed to be part of this event, and suggested the little droid could “take a break… Maybe he’s not in the right place at the right time, all the time.”
Alex Zalben disagreed (with less cursing about it than LePage), calling this the “Droid Avengers,” thanks to the inclusion of R2-D2, Triple Zero, and other all-star droids joining together to fight back against the Scourge. “That’s great,” Zalben said of the move, and Tyler begrudgingly agreed that it was “cool.”
On the greater story, LePage called Dark Droids “super scary and very emotional. I was really worried about how this was all going to end up. But then… my boy R2-D2 showed up. Straight giving us hope. I just lost it. I was so excited to see Artoo. That whole Dark Droid counsel was really bumming me out… Creepy. But man, yeah, it was nice to see a little light at the end of the tunnel.”
