It’s Jeff: The Jeff-Verse #1 Review:

Writer Kelly Thompson and artists Gurihiru return to the near-silent adventures of everyone’s favorite land-shark in this collection from Marvel’s digital comics. Jeff goes on adventures, eats a lot of food, and generally has a nice time.

Host Alex Zalben noted that the first collection from Marvel was a big hit, and anecdotally brought a bunch of kids to comic book stores, “so I expect this one will do as well.” But contrasting the two, Zalben said, “I’ll tell you what, I like this better than the first issue. I thought this was much funnier. The jokes were sharper, and I still continue to love everything that Kelly Thompson is doing here. The Gurihiru art is great. But this was a stronger issue than the first one. So I was very happy.”

Justin Tyler agreed this was better than the first It’s Jeff issue, saying, “The art was just fantastic. And I like incorporating more heroes into it than the first one… It’s fun, taking a wider range of places for Jeff to go… In general, just fun.”

Pete Lepage said this issue was, “a blast. It really jumps off the page. It’s so much fun. It’s all ages friendly. But even as an older person, I don’t feel like, oh, this is for younger kids.” Specific moments LePage enjoyed included a story where a shrunken Jeff interacts with some ants, or where MODOK let him play with the Jeff plushies the villain had created. “This is adorable,” LePage said. “These stories are a little bit longer, but the payoffs are better… Every time Marvel has given us more Jeff, I have enjoyed every morsel of it.”
