Previously, we broke down why Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) on Invincible won’t be turning evil, based on the comics. But based on the promo for this week’s new episode of the series on Prime Video? Maybe we shouldn’t be so sure.
In the Invincible Season 2, Episode 2 promo posted on X (formerly Twitter), we get some quick glimpses of the new episode, titled “In About Six Hours, I Lose My Virginity to A Fish”. Despite the goofy name, things look very serious as Mark continues to grapple with the fallout of finding out his father, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) was bent on world domination.
“You’re a good person,” Mark’s mother Debbie (Sandra Oh) tells him. “No one thinks you’re going to turn out like your father.”
“Well then why would you even say it?” an angered Mark fires back, as Debbie stammers an apology.
This is interspersed with scenes of Invincible fighting creatures fans of the comics will know are called Magmanites, lava creatures who are led by Doc Seismic (Chris Diamantopoulos). We actually got a glimpse of the ol’ Doctor with them during the montage of baddies at the end of Season 1 in “Where I Really Come From.” So clearly, Doc Seismic is back in Invincible‘s next episode.
Also showing up next episode? Darkwing II (Cleveland Berto), the former sidekick of Darkwing (Lennie James), the Batman-esque character killed by Omni-Man in Season 1. “I’m saving the world from Omni-Man’s son,” Darkwing II says as he fights Invincible in his hometown of Midnight City.
That’s when it all comes together, as a terrified Darkwing II looks at Invincible and says, “You would never–“
“Like you said,” Invincible says, “I’m Omni-Man’s son.”
So is the Prime Video series about to take a major departure from the comic books by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley? Is Invincible about to go bad like his dad? Or perhaps this is yet another alternate-universe version of Mark? We’ll have to stay tuned when the episode drops on Thursday to find out.

Invincible Season 2 Premiere Dates And Episode Guide:
Invincible Season 2 officially premiered on Prime Video on Thursday, November 2 at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT. Though Season 2 will be eight episodes long, only one episode will premiere on Thursday, followed by the next three Thursdays. Then there will be a break, and the second half of Invincible Season 2 will premiere sometime in 2024.
