Marvel’s Echo Reveals Kingpin Heavy Trailer, Premiere Date

marvel echo kingpin trailer premiere date

Marvel is in a weird spot. They’re trying to figure out whether to recast Jonathan Majors as Kang. Whether to bring back the original Avengers cast to goose ticket sales. Their reboot of Daredevil has, itself, been rebooted before it was ever released. And now, they’ve got the perfect solution to their problems: release the first trailer and premiere date for Echo, and heavily feature Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin.

Echo, which is a spinoff of Hawkeye, which came out in 2021, will premiere all five episodes on January 10, 2024. Though no episode count had previously been confirmed by Marvel, rumors set the original production of the show at eight episodes. Meaning that either through re-editing or judicious cutting, the series lost about three of its hours.

And thanks to the new trailer, we’ve seen about two minutes of the five hours that remain. And most, if not all of those minutes, focus on The Kingpin. In Hawkeye, we met Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez, aka Echo. A skilled fighter, she was raised by Fisk and trained to be a vicious killer. After discovering Fisk had killed her father, she shot him in the face, killing him instantly. Just kidding! Kingpin is alive and well, and sporting a bandage on his eye after his massive head wound.

The trailer shows us how Fisk met Maya, as well as Maya returning to her hometown in Oklahoma. We also get to see some of the mostly Indigenous cast, and a skating rink with a big painting on the wall that says “Make America Skate Again.”

The good news is that Echo will be echoing all over streaming: you’ll be able to catch the series on both Disney+, and Hulu. Oh, and guess what? Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is in it, too:
