Love Maddie Phillips On Gen V? Then Watch Teenage Bounty Hunters

Maddie Phillips Gen V Teenage Bounty Hunters

The whole cast of Prime Video‘s Gen V is great. But one underutilized player? Maddie Phillips, as Cate Dunlap. We know that because Maddie Phillips has been in a ton of movies and TV shows. And if you want to feel the full brunt of her awesome acting power? Let us compel you to go watch Teenage Bounty Hunters on Netflix.

Only 10 episodes long, the 2020 comedy-drama starred Phillips and Anjelica Bette Fellini as fraternal twins who accidentally fall into being the teen bounty hunters of the title. Along with non-teen bounty hunter Bowser Jenkins (Kadeem Hardison), the three jumped through bounty-hunting cases, drama, comedy, and romance with equal aplomb. The show is a must for any fan of Veronica Mars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Or if you love similar quippy action series that pack on serious twists and emotions.

Phillips plays Sterling Wesley, the good Christian girl to Fellini’s bad girl with a heart of gold. But even in an excellent cast, Phillips is a hilarious stand-out, cracking gut-busting line after line, and also starring as one-half of one of the best enemies-to-lovers romances on recent TV.

That’s part of the reason Phillips feels underplayed as Cate on Gen V, where she’s been forced to hold in emotions lest she accidentally compel someone to do something they absolutely don’t want to do with her powers. The closest Phillips came to her halcyon Teenage Bounty Hunters days was in the show’s third episode, “#THINKBRINK,” in the scene where she awkwardly asks Andre (Chance Perdomo) if they should talk about the “intercourse.”

There probably won’t be much time for Phillips to goof off in the last two episodes of Gen V Season 1. But Assuming Cate survives past the Season 1 finale, fingers crossed we see more humor from her, alongside the tears in the already greenlit Gen V Season 2. In the meantime, you can laugh out loud at her excellent performance on TBH.

Yes, Maddie Phillips Was Also On Supernatural

We’re not going to ignore that Phillips was also on two episodes of Supernatural… Something that connects her to Gen V/The Boys EP Eric Kripke, as well as actors Alexander Calvert (who plays Rufus on Gen V), and Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy — both also expats of The CW series. Phillips appeared twice on Supernatural, in two different roles. The first was in 2015 as Janet Novoselic on the episode “Halt & Catch Fire.” The second was in 2018, as Harper Sayles on “Optimism.”

Hey, that’s how it works with Vancouver-based shows. They keep casting you, even if you’ve been on the show before. I don’t make the rules.

Best Maddie Phillips Movies And TV Shows (Other Than Teenage Bounty Hunters and Supernatural):

On the off-chance that didn’t convince you to watch Teenage Bounty Hunters, or you’re just looking for more Maddie Phillips movies and TV shows, here are some highlights. Other than the aforementioned shows, she played Randeen on five episodes of Ghost Wars, and Devon D’Marco on five episodes of Project Mc2. She was also on two episodes of Van Helsing as Kit. And it’s not a big role, but she did play Jr. Prom Date (Crying) on an episode of Legion and that show rules, so check it out if you like messed up superhero series.

Movies-wise, Phillips has been confined to the small screen. But you can check her out in A Feeling of Home, Made for You, with Love, Undercover Cheerleader, Garage Sale Mystery: Searched & Seized, and several others.

But again: please watch Teenage Bounty Hunters. Thanks.
