Who Is Cassidy Bullock On Riverdale? That Cliffhanger, Explained

It’s been a long, murderiffic season of Riverdale. But after two Black Hoods, a gang war, and several kidnappings, Season 2 is in the books, and everyone is living happily ever after. Except for Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), of course, who is going to jail for murdering Cassidy Bullock. But hold up: who is Cassidy Bullock on Riverdale, again?

But first, let’s do a little recap before the recap.

What happened on the Riverdale Season 2 finale?

You can get a more in depth explanation on our Riverdale podcast, but short version is that the Black Hood was arrested. A second Black Hood — reportedly Tall Boy, former Southside Serpents member — was killed. Jughead (Cole Sprouse) wasn’t just alive, he may (or may not) have asked Betty (Lili Reinhart) to marry him. And Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) got the most extra Serpents jacket in history.

On the election front, Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) lost the mayoral election to Hermione Lodge (Mairsol Nichols). Archie won the student body election, though, beating out the sadly absent Ethel Muggs (Shannon Purser). Before he could accept the win, he threatened Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos), saying he’d reveal every dirty deed Hiram ever committed.

So Hiram did what Hiram does, and framed Archie for Cassidy Bullock’s murder. Archie was thrown in handcuffs, and taken out of school. See you next year!

So, who is Cassidy Bullock on Riverdale?

He’s not Harvery Bullock’s son, despite some casual Gotham City references this season. Way back in “Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Hills Have Eyes,” Veronica (Camila Mendes), Betty, Jughead and Archie all took a trip out to the Lodge Lodge. There, they encountered some townies, including a counter clerk named Cassidy Bullock, played by Harrison MacDonald.

Bullock heard that Veronica and company were up at the Lodge Lodge all alone, so put on some masks and decided to play “Home Invasion.” After taking the foursome hostage, Veronica turned the tables and called the cops. At the last minute, Cassidy grabbed Veronica’s necklace, and ran out of the lodge.

Archie, still suffering from Black Hood related PTSD, chased Cassidy out of the house into the woods, where they were both approached by Hiram’s driver/bodyguard, Andre (Stephan Miers). Andrew brandished a gun, and told Archie to leave. As our red-haired hero left, he heard a gunshot, seemingly Andrew murdering Cassidy Bullock.

Who really murdered Cassidy Bullock on Riverdale?

Sure seems like it was Andre, who himself was killed by gangster Small Fry during “Chapter Thirty-Four: Judgement Night.” But. BUT! We never saw Cassidy’s body, or Andre killing him. So who knows? He might not even be dead.

What will happen to Archie in Season 3?

The next season of Riverdale is just starting to be figured out. But with Hiram in control of the Southside, he’s free to move ahead with his for-profit prison. Hm, are we going to see Archie Andrews go through a little caged heat? And if we do, will another famous prisoner — Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro) — be there to help him?
