Are you ready to enter the maze (again) on FX’s Legion? The promo for Season 2, Episode 4 — titled “Chapter 12” — is wild, as usual. But more than that, it promises to take us inside the mind of a character we think we know; but may not really know at all.
***spoilers for recent episodes of Legion beyond this point***
On “Chapter 11,” the chattering teeth virus called The Catalyst was let loose in the human/mutant taskforce headquarters of Division 3. David Haller (Dan Stevens) was able to free a few of his teammates, but was presented with the worst possible scenario at the end of the episode when it turned out his true love, Syd (Rachel Keller) has been infected.
The key to freeing those infected with The Catalyst is that David needs to enter their mind, make them accept and face what it is the really want in their lives, and then have them choose to leave their personal “maze.”
Syd is going to be a tricky one. Since David was taken… Somewhere… At the end of Season 1, Syd has retreated. First she focused on David’s return. Then, as we discussed on Inside Legion, our Legion podcast, she literally retreated inside of a cat.
Now we’ve got a promo for next week’s episode, and it’s clear that Syd has regressed to her childhood, and is living through her life over and over again. Will she get out? Yeah, probably. But with the rest of Division 3 still under attack, and the Mi-Go Monk that was the key to freeing them dead… Will it be too late?
Here’s the official description of the show from FX:
Legion follows the story of “David Haller,” a man who believed he was schizophrenic but discovered he might be the most powerful mutant in the world. With help from a team of specialists, David harnessed his unique abilities and learned he’d been haunted by a malicious parasite. Now, David is all that stands in the way of “Amahl Farouk” from attaining infinite and world-ending power.
