‘Krypton’: Brainiac Infects The Worst Person Possible In This Spoilery Scene From “Word Of Rao”

If you think your whole planet blowing up is bad, wait until you see what happens when Brainiac attacks Krypton. Spoilers for the latest episode of SYFY’s Krypton, “The Word of Rao” past this point; but suffice to say that at the end of this last episode, things got way worse for the citizens of Kandor.

At the end of the episode, the surprisingly sympathetic* religious leader the Face of Rao is looking at a small statue given to him by one of his new handmaidens. Only problem? The statue contains a probe from Brainiac, which immediately infects the Face, making him the Collector of World’s lackey on Krypton.

That’s pretty much terrible news, as the House of Vex is planning a coup to eject Rao from Kryptonian society; a rogue Black Zero faction is aiming to attack Brainiac; and honestly the Face didn’t seem like such a bad guy*. Now, he’s super strong and ready to put the hurt on Kandor. Yuh-oh.

(*We may have had a mild shouting match about how sympathetic on our podcast After Krypton, which you can listen to here.)

Here’s the official description from SyFy:

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, The Halcyon) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, Krypton is executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy). Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead) will serve as executive producer and showrunner.
