‘Legion’ Takes You Inside Its Mind-Blowing Visual Effects

There’s a lot about FX’s Legion that’s mind-blowing, but one of the most incredible aspects of the show isn’t the trippy plot or questions about David Haller’s (Dan Stevens) sanity: it’s the visual effects. Even more unbelievable? Most of them are done practically.

It’s something we’ve discussed a lot on our Legion podcast, Inside Legion, and thankfully FX has released a behind the scenes mini-doc on the making of some of those effects, featuring cast and crew members, including show creator Noah Hawley.

Some of the highlights include looks at how they pull off the Loudermilks living inside each other’s bodies, that gorgeous Season 2 premiere scene where Syd (Rachel Keller) talked to David using only a glowing rod and writing in the air, and even some upcoming scenes including igloos and deserts.

Check it out for yourself, below:

Here’s the official description of the show from FX:

Legion follows the story of “David Haller,” a man who believed he was schizophrenic but discovered he might be the most powerful mutant in the world. With help from a team of specialists, David harnessed his unique abilities and learned he’d been haunted by a malicious parasite. Now, David is all that stands in the way of “Amahl Farouk” from attaining infinite and world-ending power.
