Sweet Tooth is almost back on Netflix for its third and final season. And with that return comes more hybrid kids, more post-apocalyptic adventure, and most importantly, more dulcet tones from our trusty narrator. But who narrates Sweet Tooth on Netflix? We’ve got your answer right here.
Imagine me saying this in a weathered, knowing voice, one that has seen things over the course of my life and is looking back with both fondness and regret… Who is the narrator on Sweet Tooth? Why, it’s none other than actor James Brolin.
Brolin has been the narrator for the series since the very beginning, popping in to deliver short pieces of dialogue that frame up the moral of the episode or tease what might happen to Gus (Christian Convery). In fact, he’s the first voice we hear in the show… And potentially the last, as it’s wrapping up after eight episodes in Season 3.
As for Brolin, you probably know the name as the California native has been an actor for most of his 83 years. He’s probably best known to older folks for his role on Marcus Welby, M.D., or in the original Westworld movie. He also was very close to playing James Bond at one point, and ultimately parodied that almost-role in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. In 2022, he played the voice of Emperor Zurg in Lightyear.
For Sweet Tooth, it’s entirely possible we might see Brolin’s face in some form by the end of the show… The popular theory is that the unnamed narrator is Old Gus, telling the story of the show decades later. Barring that Season 3 surprise, Brolin records on his own in a recording booth and has never visited the New Zealand set of the series.
You also probably know him for one of his most prominent roles as “the father of James Brolin,” aka Thanos, among other things. One might say being a father is the greatest role a man can take! That’s the sort of thing he might say as the narrator of Sweet Tooth this upcoming season!
