Alan Scott: The Green Lantern #6 Review:

In the final issue of this series, Alan Scott battles his ex-boyfriend back in time. And in the present, it’s revealed this has all been a story explaining to his son why he’s been in the closet for decades.

“Oh my god, this series was so good,” said host Alex Zalben. “This punched so far above its weight, I cannot believe it, up until the last issue, [it] got me emotionally multiple times while I was reading it. With the reveal of Obsidian in particular, the final moments with Red Lantern and Green Lantern, the action was great throughout… This was pretty much a perfect comic book series.”

Continuing, he added, “If you did not pick it up, go back, find the issues, pick it up, in trade, whatever you have to do. I was blown away by this. I know the whole JSA Golden Age thing got a little stymied for a variety of reasons, but this is 100% The standout of that era. It’s fantastic.”

“I love this as well,” said Justin Tyler. “From an action superhero storytelling point of view to taking a character that was one of the Green Lanterns… [The] world that’s been built around Alan Scott throughout this title was great on every front. And I agree with you, this is a perfect trade to pick up and just enjoy top to bottom.”

Pete LePage made it a hat trick, saying, “From start to finish this does such a great job executing an idea that is not only well done, but done with care… It’s a story about love.”

Wrapping up, Zalben gave a shout-out to Cian Tormey’s art — and a sneaky design choice that finds Alan Scott in the present wearing a beard similar to Red Lantern, his love from the past. “That’s such a subtle thing to throw in there that I thought was very, very nicely done,” Zalben said.
