Watch The Exclusive Blood-Soaked Trailer For Oni Press’s ‘Akogun: Brutalizer Of Gods’ #2

Akogun Brutalizer of Gods #2 trailer

Akogun: Brutalizer of Gods is a blood-soaked epic from Oni Press, created by Dotun Akande and Murewa Ayodele. And in the second issue — at least based on Comic Book Club’s exclusive trailer for the comic — things are only going to get more epic, more blood-soaked, and per the title, even more brutal.

In fact, the first issue of the title served as sort of a prelude to the action of this three-issue series, introducing a world of “proto-African myth and lore,” per a press release provided to Comic Book Club. In the book, we saw various gods battling and destroying each other in various ways, not caring about the outcome to their small, human subjects down below. And Alkebulon, who will become the titular “brutalizer of gods,” watched the woman he was going to marry, his parents, and his entire village get slaughtered as an afterthought.

Now, as you can see in the trailer, while the gods continue to fight, Alkebulon is taking the fight to them. The one-minute-plus trailer is definitely adults-only, by the way, featuring sliced limbs, eyeballs flying out of sockets, and a man — or god — cackling as he’s about to die.

The issue features a wraparound cover by Akande, and variant covers by Grey Williamson, Juni Ba, and Jeffrey Oyem. The 40-page issue hits stores on June 12, but you can get a little taste of what to expect in the clip below.
