‘Avengers 5’ Seems To Be On Track For A January 2025 Start Date [Report]

Marvel's The Avengers

Marvel is tamping down on productions, limiting themselves to three movies and two TV shows a year. But at the same time, Disney CEO Bob Iger is clearly extremely hyped about getting a new Avengers movie… One of the most successful movie franchises of all time. So it might make sense that Avengers 5 is getting prepped for a January 2025 start date.

The news comes via Production Weekly‘s latest issue. And as usual an enormous grain of salt with that. PW doesn’t vet their listings, openly, and instead offers a resource to folks in behind-the-scenes to reach out to productions either headed towards the sound stage or potentially in the works.

That out of the way, this week’s issue lists Avengers 5, formerly titled Avengers: Kang Dynasty, with a January 2024 start date in London. The same listing has Kevin Feige as producer, Michael Waldron as writer, and Sarah Finn as casting director — but that’s it. It all seems accurate, but with a potential May 1, 2026 release date (also noted in the PW listing), who will be in this movie? And what will it be called?

Clearly, as mentioned above, Disney wants to fast track an Avengers movie for monetary — sorry, artistic reasons. However, with Jonathan Majors out as Kang the Conqueror, and the release schedule of MCU movies in flux, it’s unclear what, exactly this movie will be other than a mash-up of various characters who have never met before. There’s also the rumor that Disney wants the original Avengers — Captain America, Black Widow, etc — to reunite for a new movie, despite several of them being dead.

So from a public-facing way, it’s unclear what this movie is, or how it would be ready for a 2025 filming date. I’d certainly cast a sketchy look the way of this particular notice. But at the same time? I’d love to see a new Avengers movie. Without a director or cast, though… We’ll have to stay tuned and see what happens.
