Back when the first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped during the Super Bowl, there was a flurry of assorted other PR. That includes a poster depicting a Deadpool & Wolverine Best Friends necklace that immediately shot to the top of anyone’s list for “things I would like to buy for my friend who I like to stab.” And now, you can have that necklace for your very own.
Yesterday, along with the announcement that Deadpool 3 tickets are now on sale, ticket-seller Fandango announced their “Deadpool’s Premium Package.” For $65, you get two tickets to see Deadpool & Wolverine in any format — meaning 3D, IMAX, while you’re scrolling your phone and annoying the crap out of everyone around you, etc. You also get an entry into a sweepstakes “for a chance to win a trip to the premiere” as long as you buy a package by June 30. And beyond that, you get a Deadpool & Wolverine Fandango digital poster, which is worthless, Bonus Fandango FanRewards Points, 15% of the Vinyl Soundtrack for the movie… And most importantly, the “Official Best Friends Necklaces.”
So other than the digital poster because – no insult – who cares, is this package worth it? At least in New York City, movie tickets can stretch to $20 or more, so you’re already hitting $40 with two tix to the movie. That said, you can get a knock-off version of the necklace for $8 + shipping on Etsy, which brings you a little above $50 if you’re willing to live with a necklace that looks slightly off.
We don’t know exactly how much the Vinyl Soundtrack will be — it’s not on sale yet — but similar soundtracks cost around $60. 15% off of that is nine bucks, so you’re still not hitting $60 here. And Bonus Points are nice, but ultimately let’s be honest… You’re paying $65 for two tickets and a necklace. Is that’s worth it to you, then the Maximum Effort you put into purchasing this package is, well, worth it. Otherwise, skip the package and spend the money on some chimichangas.
