Dynamite’s ‘Powerpuff Girls’ Reveals Interlocking Covers, Rotating Artists

Dynamite‘s upcoming Powerpuff Girls comic is about to become more powerful than you can possibly imagine — thanks to a rotating slate of artists, and three interlocking covers.

When the collabo between Dynamite and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products was announced, the creative team revealed for issue one was multiple Eisner-nominated writer Kelly Thompson, and artist Paulina Ganucheau. However, Ganucheau will only be taking on art duties on the first issue. Karen Darboe will tackle issue number two, and Miriana Puglia is the artist for issue number three.

But Darboe isn’t dar-done yet. She provided a cover for the first issue of the series featuring Bubbles — but, as you can probably figure out, it’s part of three interlocking covers focusing on each of the Powerpuff Girls:

“This project has to be one of my all-time favorites I’ve taken part in!,” said Karen S. Darboe via press release provided to Comic Book Club. “Being usually oriented to a more realistic style of drawing made this project quite challenging since I was faced with something on the total opposite of the spectrum. I really wanted to honor this fun series I grew up with which, on the top of everything, brought me closer to my two longest standing friends I used to play with! In fact, as soon as the first cover was revealed, I immediately sent it to them remembering the good old days when we wanted to be super heroines like Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup!”

Powerpuff Girls #1 hits stores this July.
