It’s finally May! Well, almost May. Anyway, new comics come out on May 1 this week… And then even more new comics come out on Free Comic Book Day on May 4, so get ready for a double hit of what you crave.
Marvel isn’t waiting for Saturday, though, as they’re dropping some huge issues this week. First is Blood Hunt #1, which kicks off the vampires versus the Marvel Universe saga. Then Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows head back to Vietnam to pit The Punisher versus Nick Fury in Get Fury #1. And in non-versus news, Greg Pak and Will Sliney revisit the prequel we all know and love in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace Anniversary Special #1.
DC is going big and urging you to take their comics home with five over-sized issues this week. Spring Breakout continues (hopefully) the publisher’s great run of themed one-shots. Meanwhile the House of Brainiac Special does a “how I met your Czarnian” to reveal what Brainiac has been up to the past few years. And there are annuals for Harley Quinn, Nightwing and The Flash! Good for them.
Other big releases include DSTLRY launching The Blood Brothers Mother #1 from Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso, the team behind 100 Bullets. Dark Horse has Lester of the Lesser Gods from Eric Powell and Lucky Yates, as well as a new issue of Minor Threats. And over at Oni Press, Derk Charm’s Toxic Summer looks like a goopy delight. Plus: Dynamite launches Space Ghost, coast to coast.
