True Believers, a new comic currently on Kickstarter to support its second issue, is bringing on a bevy of celebrity horror icon cameos. Those include Jamie Lee Curtis, GWAR, R.L. Stine, Jeffrey Reddick, Devon Sawa, and more. Part of that “more” includes Matthew Kiichi Heafy of the band Trivium, who is creating an original, 30-minute-long score for the project. But no need to wait until your Kickstarter rewards come through… We’ve got your first, exclusive listen to “On The Run,” one of the tracks, right here, right now.
In case you’re not familiar with True Believers, the book is written by Stephen Graham Jones and Joshua Viola, with art by Ben Matsuya. The series follows a serial killer appropriately named Killr™, who in this issue is stalking the Colorado Festival of Horror — hence the celebs showing up.
“Nothing better than being at a horror convention, and the Colorado Festival of Horror does it right,” Stephen Graham Jones said via a press release provided to Comic Book Club. “Only thing better might be . . . I don’t know. Maybe being there and feeling like you’re walking through the panels of a slasher comic book?”
With 15 days to go in the Kickstarter (as of this writing), the project has already made over $17,000 on a $2,500 goal, so mission accomplished. That said, you’re probably wondering about the score, which comes with $35 and above levels. Not only does Heafy’s score accompany the comic book, but it also comes in limited blood-red saw-blade vinyls and cassette tapes. Because of course, it does.
You can check out the track below, and pledge the Kickstarter until Friday, April 26 at 2:59 am ET.
