You’ve watched Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse a million times. You’ve watched Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse another million times. But did you know there’s another animated Spider-Man movie you can watch right now, taking place in the same cinematic universe? It’s true! And The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story is now live and free to watch.
The new short takes place between the events of the two movies and focuses on Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) as he’s dealing with anxiety after a particularly tough mission. Here’s the official synopsis, per Sony:
In the genre-bending thriller The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story, Miles Morales struggles to balance his responsibilities as a teenager, friend, and student while acting as Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. After a particularly challenging day living with these pressures, Miles experiences a panic attack that forces him to confront the manifestations of his anxiety and learn that reaching out for help can be just as brave an act as protecting his city from evil.
The film premiered in June 2023 at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival to much acclaim, but this is the first time it’s been available for everyone to watch online. And not only that, given the subject matter Sony Pictures Animation has partnered with the Kevin Love Fund to release the film free.
The KLF will be incorporating the short into their new mental health-focused lesson plan, which will invite students to use their own mental health stories to create a storyboard for a short movie.

You can watch the short film below starting at 9 am ET on Wednesday, March 27. It was directed by Jarelle Dampier, and written by Khalia Amazan. Hopefully, it’ll help ease some of that anxiety you’re feeling after the wild cliffhangers at the end of Across the Spider-Verse.
