Today we’re taking a look through the highlights from DC Comics solicits for June 2024, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and more!

This is Comic Book Club News for March 18, 2024.

DC Comics June 2024 Solicit Highlights:

Kicking things off with Batman, of course, DC Comics’ Elseworlds imprint is officially back in June with Batman: Gotham By Gaslight – The Kryptonian Age #1, written by Andy Diggle with art by Leandro Fernández. The new title takes place in a Victorian-era DC Universe, and per the title will introduce Superman into the mix. Back in the present, in Batman #148 and #149, Chip Zdarsky finishes the “Dark Prisons” storyline pitting Batman against the Batman of Zur en Arrh, and it seems like it will directly set up this Summer’s “Absolute Power” event.

Moving over to Superman, as previously reported by Comic Book Club News, June will bring on the My Adventures With Superman tie-in comic, written by the TV series’s head writer Josie Campbell. Meanwhile, in the mainstream Superman titles “House of Brainiac” continues to cross over in Superman and Action Comics, and it seems like the end of this event will directly set up… You guessed it… “Absolute Power.”

Outsiders #8 teams up Batwoman with Jinny Hex for a Wild West mystery. Wonder Woman #10 brings Cheetah into the fray. And Suicide Squad: Dream Team #4 continues to build up to… What else: “Absolute Power.”

Also previously reported by Comic Book Club News, June sees the first issue of Zatanna: Bring Down The House, a Black Label series by Mariko Tamaki and Javier Rodríguez which sends the title character back to Vegas to solve a weird mystery.

And throughout the month, once again as previously reported by Comic Book Club News, DC will celebrate Pride with a new anthology, a tribute to creator Rachel Pollack, and a slew of variant covers depicting the publisher’s many LGBTQ+ characters.

In addition, DC is soliciting two giant omnibuses that won’t debut until later this year. We’ve — you guessed it — reported about them previously on this podcast. But the two books are DC Versus Marvel Omnibus; and DC Versus Marvel: The Amalgam Age Omnibus, both of which hit stores on August 6. So I guess, get ready now. They’re coming, and they’re an essential part of the lead-up to “Absolute Power.” Just kidding.

For Comic Book Club News, I’m Alex Zalben. And tune in tomorrow as this podcast leads directly into “Absolute Power.”
