Titans: Beast World #6 Review:

In the final issue of DC’s event series, the Titans set everything right… Or do they?

Kicking things off, host Pete LePage talked about enjoying the fun of the series, over the stakes, which Alex Zalben agreed with. “One of the main things that they weren’t going for this event was ‘world changing’,” said Zaben, “so much as fun. And that’s something that we’ve kind of been getting from a lot of the DC events since Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths… I’m having a good time.”

Justin Tyler agreed, adding, “Unlike your classic big events where it is line defining and everyone has to put a stop to the stories they’re telling to focus on the event, these events lately are sort of like ‘no, you can still be telling all the other the Batman, Superman stories concurrent to this.’ And it doesn’t interrupt it. So that does inherently lower the stakes a little bit for a line-wide event when it’s not disturbing anything else. But that is that’s not a criticism. That’s the status quo. What I like about this is that it is focused on the Titans exclusively. It touched everyone, but everything came back to them… And it really sets the Titans up for a great story going forward.”

Jumping over to the end of the issue, and spoilers past this point, the group talked about how Amanda Waller has been slowly building up power over these various events, leading up to… Something.

“One of the things that got me excited here is the idea that DC is doing some serious long-term planning with their storyline,” added Zalben. “There’s an uber-story they’re telling here… And I love the commitment to that.

Said Tyler, “It feels very Marvel from like 10 to 15 years ago, with Waller a sort of like Green Goblin, Dark Avengers rising here. That’s fun to put the Justice League, which has always been a paragon and a universally loved team, a little bit on their heels. We’re getting that with Amazons Attack and all of those sorts of books that have been coming out lately, that all of our heroes are being tarnished a bit in the DC Universe, which is something they hadn’t really done before. So that’s an interesting change.”
