It’s time for another edition of new comics this week, the game show where we try to figure out which comics are new this week! Good news: we figured it out, and the list is below for January 30, 2024 and January 31, 2024.
Marvel has a new number one with Dead X-Men #1, which brings the five mutants killed during the Hellfire Gala back to life somehow for one last mission. But the big one in my personal opinion is Avenegrs Inc. #5, a unique noir-inflected mystery series that is sadly coming to an end this week. Bummer! More unique concepts, please!
Over at DC, it’s a lighter week in terms of number of comics released, but there are some big ones — literally, and figuratively. In DC Power 2024, we’re getting a reunion of N.K. Jemisin and Jamal Campbell for an epilogue to their lauded series Far Sector. Meanwhile, Titans: Beast World #6 wraps up the animalistic event, and promises big changes for the DC Universe. And Batman/Superman: World’s Finest Annual 2024 brings on a whole Justice League of Fifth Dimensional Imps.
From other publishers, Dark Horse is finishing up the very fun “Fast & Furious goes to Hell” series Drive Like Hell. DSTLRY has a second issue of Becky Cloonan and Tula Lotay’s adults-only horror series Somna. Dynamite launches the first-ever Lilo & Stitch ongoing series from writer Greg Pak. Image Comics has Moon Man #1 from Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi. And Oni Press launches Jill and the Killers from writer Olivia Cuartero-Briggs, who — plug, plug — will be on Comic Book Club’s live show this very week.
