Something is Killing the Children #35 review header

In Something Killing the Children #35 from BOOM! Studios, written by James Tynion IV with art by Werther Dell’edera, something is — shocker — killing children.

We reviewed the book on the Stack podcast. But in the interest of highlighting more about the title, here’s a summary of the conversation with our thoughts. And if you prefer the longer audio version, that’s below as well!

Something Is Killing The Children #35 Review:

Our hero Erica has been whittled down to nothing as she faces two enemies: one, a monster who looks like her. Another, Cutter, a monster who acts like her. And in this issue… A child dies. Accurate title!

“This is the most devastating issue of this series so far,” said host Alex Zalben.

Justin Tyler agreed, adding, “I enjoyed this. Contrary to a lot of issues in this series, a lot of stuff happens here. It’s very emotional. It’s very well done. Huge ramifications. This is a dark title that finds new ways to kill the children.”

“I can’t recommend it enough,” Pete LePage said of this issue. “It’s so creepy, amazing, heartbreaking… An unbelievable story. Very creative and inventive.”

Wrapping up, Zalben called this a “game-changing issue,” that both for Erica and the world of the series and its spinoffs, “they’re taking real risks with the main character, in terms of changing things up.” And Zalben lauded the series for following up on the promise of the title of the book. “It’s not going to back off from that, and is not going to back off from the emotional ramifications for that. So great, great issue. Great, great series.”
