Power Girl is back in her own ongoing series from Leah Williams and Eduardo Pansica, from DC Comics. She’s got a new secret identity, some new villains, and some new powers, to boot.
We reviewed the book on the Stack podcast. But in the interest of highlighting more about the title, here’s a summary of the conversation with our thoughts. And if you prefer the longer audio version, that’s below as well!

Power Girl #1 Review:
In the new series, Power Girl is taking on the secret identity of Dr. Paige Stetler, a tech billionaire looking to change the world.
As a fan of the character, host Pete LePage was very much looking forward to the new series. “In the right hands Power Girl, can be a great superhero,” LePage said.
However, LePage did have one major issue with the, er, issue: Power Girl’s new power.
“I mean, unfortunately, when you read a lot of comics, there is this kind of thing that happens sometimes where it’s like, oh yeah, by the way, I have this new superpower that completely saves the day perfectly for the situation that I’m in that you’ve never heard of that we’re just going to drop here,” LePage quipped. “But other than that, I’m excited for where this story is going to go, and I really love the art.”
The other hosts agreed, noting that in the previous post-Lazarus Planet PG stories, she had the power to punch through the mindscape of her patients. Here, she’s able to punch through the multiverse in the “real” world… Which brings her character uncomfortably close to the same powers as Marvel’s America Chavez.
Even with this quibble, overall the hosts liked the issue, with Tyler adding that this new status quo also brings the character closer to the overall Superman family of books. “I like the reinvention,” he said.
