Brian Michael Bendis And Alex Maleev To Release Their Masterpiece:
Are Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev about to release their masterpiece? As previously teased on Comic Book Club’s live show with Maleev back in January, and Bendis in May, the Daredevil and Scarlet duo will team up once again for a new Dark Horse comic appropriately titled Masterpiece.
Surprisingly not based on Jessie J’s hit single “Masterpiece,” the new creator-owned book will introduce Emma, aka Masterpiece, a 16-year-old genius inventor and webcomic creator. She discovers via billionaire Zero Preston that her parents were two of the greatest criminals of all time — and they robbed a billion dollars from Preston, before disappearing. Naturally, Preston coerces Masterpiece into pulling a robbery for him involving her parents’ old crew.
Also featuring Ian Herring as colorist and Josh Reed as letterer, the first issue will feature variant covers by Tula Lotay and Peach Momoko. The first issue of the six-issue long series will hit stores on December 13. Jessie J’s hit single is available to listen to now, since it came out in 2014.
New Ultimate Spider-Man Coming From Hickman And Checchetto:
As previously reported, Marvel’s Ultimate Universe is coming back. And now, thanks to a new tease from the publisher, we know a little more about how that will happen. Specifically, writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Marco Checchetto are teaming up for a new Ultimate Spider-Man title.
The previous iteration of the Ultimate Universe, a fresh, continuity-free version of Marvel’s comics, was also launched with Ultimate Spider-Man back in 2000. That title expanded into a full line of comics and eventually introduced Miles Morales into the series — and the comic book canon.
In this iteration, Hickman’s currently running Ultimate Invasion will lead into an Ultimate Universe special in November, followed by the launch of Ultimate Spider-Man in January. Marvel promises more information on the title at their New York Comic Con panel next month. So who will be under the mask: Peter Parker? Miles Morales? Or perhaps, YOU. Probably not you, though.
Dr. Seuss Graphic Novels Coming From Random House:
Are you ready for graphic novels from Dr. Seuss? Well get ready, they’re coming faster than a caboose. Grab your goose juice and moose juice and keep your wallet loose because… Okay fine, Random House is publishing Dr. Seuss graphic novels.
The news, as reported by Popverse, comes via the New York Comic Con schedule, which lists a panel appropriately titled “Introducing… Dr. Seuss Graphic Novels!” Hailing from Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books, the first books in the line will be created by James Kochalka and Art Baltazar. Both are well known for their all-ages work, and the panel blurb promises the novels will tackle Seuss characters like Cat in the Hat, the Grinch, Sam-I-Am, and more.
We’ll find out more about the line when the panel debuts on October 12, with more information than you can fit on a shelf. Okay, sorry about that, last one.
