Comics? Are they new this week? They sure are, and we’ve got your full checklist for what new comics are out this week for August 9, 2023 — or August 8, 2023, if you’re DC Comics.
On the Marvel end of things, the House of Ideas kicks off a Contest of Chaos through their annuals, starting with Spider-Man Annual #1 (wild to think this is the first-ever Spider-Man annual, right?), and everyone’s favorite blue musician Max Rebo takes the spotlight in the latest Return of the Jedi anniversary issue.
At DC, the Knight Terrors crossover is still dominating things, but you’re also getting a new issue of Tom King and Jorge Fornés’ wildly ambitious Danger Street. And there’s also a Superman Annual #1 in there, too (wild to think this is the first-ever Superman annual, right?).
Other highlights include Image Comics’ Enfield Gang Massacre #1, and if you’re interested in the That Texas Blood spinoff, be sure to check out our dive into the miniseries with creators Chris Condon and Jacob Phillips on our podcast. From Dark Horse, Barnstormers returns for a second issue hot off its win for Best Digital Comic. And over at Boom! Studios, get hyped for the return of Mech Cadets, soon to be a Netflix series.
