‘Krypton’: When It Comes To The Fortress, There Was “No Acting Required”

Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El in the Fortress of Solitude - Why did krypton explode

What would you do if you found yourself in the middle of Krypton‘s Fortress of Solitude? When it came time for Cameron Cuffe, who plays Superman’s grandfather Seg-El on the show, to enter the set, the answer was easy.

“There was no acting required in that moment,” Cuffe says laughing in a new behind the scenes video from SYFY.

Granted, this isn’t the same Fortress that Superman fans are familiar with. It’s actually the lab of Val-El (Ian McElhinney), Superman’s grandfather’s… Grandfather. So the eventual Fortress that Superman builds on Earth is, if anything, a facsimile of this one.

That didn’t matter much to the folks behind the scenes.

“The Fortress set has been the one we have agonized over the most,” Cameron Welsh, the shows Executive Producer noted. “We understand the importance of the Fortress, and the role it plays in the mythology.”

With that much history behind it then, why would you get blood all over that nice new set? Watch the video below for more, including some neat behind the scenes shots as they put together the Fortress sequences. And stay tuned for plenty more, as Krypton Cribs continues.

Just kidding but also I would totally watch that.

Here’s the official description of the series from SYFY:

Set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, Krypton follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe, The Halcyon) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. Based on DC characters, Krypton is executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy). Cameron Welsh (Ash vs Evil Dead) will serve as executive producer and showrunner.
